Minnesota Timberwolves play the best at home in the Target Center

Minnesota Timberwolves Player dunking the ballNo one would argue that the Minnesota Timberwolves got off to a rough start this season, with several losses and lots of almosts... the MN Timberwolves made it hard to find the desire to go to the Target Center. Things are looking up though, with several wins in December, most of them at home... The Minnesota Timberwolves seem to be setteling into the new offense, new coach and new players.

And the Target Center couldn't be happier. The Minnesota Timberwolves are a huge part of the Target Center schedule, and no venue wants a loser taking up most of the scheduled events. With several home games coming up on the Minnesota Timbewolves Schedule, the Target Center Seating Chart is bound to start getting more and more full.... its a great catch-22. The more the Minneosta Timberwolves Roster wins, the more people want to go to Minnesota Timberwolves Games, the more people that want to go to Minnesota Timberwolves Games at the Target Center, the harder it is to get Target Center Tickets and the fewer people can go...

So my advice: The Minneosta Timberwolves are still are pretty tightly held secret, there are lots of opportunites to see the Twolves at home in the Target Center, scoop up Target Center Tickets today before the rush sets in!

Target Center Concert Schedule slow this winter...

The Recession has hit everyone hard this holiday center, including the Target Center. The Target Center Concert Schedule this season is VERY slow compared to other years, especially the past few. Typically the holiday season and early new year season brings in great concerts to the the Twin Cities, this year the music scene in Minneapolis is looking very thin.

The Target Center does have some of the best of the few shows coming to the Twin Cities this winter. Target Center Tickets make great holiday gifts, but don't miss your chance to get them. With fewer concerts to chose from, there will be a much higher demand for the shows that are coming. Get Great Concert Tickets online now before the Target Center Concerts are all sold out!

Taylor Swift Fearless Tour stops at the Target Center

Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler at an awards show
Taylor Swift's Fearless Tour will stop at the Target Center Sunday, October 11 at 7:00. One of the most highly anticipated Country Music tours of the year, the Taylor Swift Fearless show will combine country music songs and sounds with a Britney Spears like production quality to produce a one of a kind show that should not be missed.

Joining Taylor Swift on this tour is good friend American Idol's Kellie Pickler. The two girls co-wrote Kellie's current single "Best Days of Your Life" as revenge against a boy who wronged Kellie and Taylor provides backup vocals on track as well as the rest of Kellie's album.

Opening for the show is Gloriana, the new country group who just released the hit of the summer, "Wild At Heart". The group along with pumping up the crowd is out to promote their new album that will drop later this fall.

Minnesota Timberwolves announce big changes and a new head coach

Timberwolves Player #33 taking a Jump Shot
Earlier this week the Minnesota Timberwolves announced the Kurt Rambis will be the new head coach for the team. Coach Rambis wasted no time making it clear that he was in sync with David Kahn and that Timberwolves fans should expect to see big changes this season. The Timberwolves roster was shaken up and stripped down almost to nothing. New players are being brought in, with the hopes that the MN Timberwolves will return to their Kevin Garnett glory days... when Twin Cities basketball fans were eager and excited to go to games. Even if the playing itself doesn't pull people into the Target Center, potential newcomer Ricky Rubio sure will. The 18 year old Spanish Heart-Throb is exactly the "star" player that the Timberwolves need to generate excitement and increase ticket sales.

While I wouldn't go as far as saying that the Timberwolves will sell out the Target Center, I do think there will be more demand for T-Wolves tickets this season than there has been in recent years and if you don't want to be left out of the newest Twin Cities sports trend I would suggest scooping up tickets now.

Demi Lovato at Target Center

Demi Lovato signing autographs for fans on the red carpet
If you have or know of a "tween" girl, than you have heard of the Jonas Brothers and probably of heard of their Disney Channel Movie, Camp Rock... but perhaps you haven't heard of Demi Lovato the Jo Bro's co-star in the flick. Unlike many of the other Disney Pop-Starlets, Demi has some real talent and could be one of the next "big things". Another thing that sets her apart is the fact that she doesn't seem to have the attitude or diva behavior that some of the other Disney Darlings have exhibited, it should be a show that both tweens and moms will enjoy.

Demi Lovato is making a stop on her summer tour August 8th at the Target Center. Opening for Demi is American Idol's David Archuleta. The concert starts at 7:00, with doors opening at 6:00.

The Fray at Target Center Minneapolis

Most Twin Cities music fans already have The Fray concert at the Target Center next Tuesday July 21st on the radar, but in case you haven’t found tickets yet, there are still some out there.

In fact, I was goofing around on the internet today and I found this cool new The Fray Tickets site. It looks like they will have concert tickets for all of The Fray Shows plus you can get all of The Fray song lyrics from the site and Fray band information.

They have some Target Center floor tickets which are all standing room general admission only for this show. The Fray Tickets web site also has seats in section 112 which is a great lower level Target Center section. Plus, the prices are pretty reasonable especially since concert tickets can be expensive these days.

If you haven’t bought your Fray Tickets yet, I would recommend checking out The Fray Tickets.com

See you at the show!

Kings of Leon Tickets available for Fall Concert at the Target Center

The Kings of Leon, a band out of Tennessee, will be playing a concert at the Target Center on September 28 at 8:00. The band is comprised of brothers Caleb, Jared and Nathan Followill and cousin Matthew Followill. Since their debut in 2003, the Kings of Leon have achieved international superstardom especially in the United States, Great Britain and Ireland. Music critics in Britain have dubbed the Kings of Leon the best band to come out of America in decades. Earlier this year Rolling Stone called them America's hottest band.

Album Cover Shot of the Kings of Leon

With a Grammy under their belts for "Sex on Fire" and nominations for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Album I'm sure this show will be one not to be missed! Joining the tour this fall is London trio White Lies. Buy Kings of Leon tickets early for what is sure to be of the best concerts of the season!

Beyonce is coming to the Target Center

The Queen of Female Empowerment, Beyonce, will be in the Twin Cities playing at the Target Center on July 16th at 7:00. On her summer "I am.... Sasha Fierce" tour promoting her double album of the same name, Beyonce explains to media that the whole point of this album was growth. The "I am..." part was a self reflection and an inner-look at who she is as a person. And the "Sasha Fierce" portion of the album and the tour is the alter-ego that she created. Sasha Fierce is feisty, sexy, independent and one of a kind, everything that Beyonce feels fans should be as well.

Beyonce posing for a Sasha Fierce photo shoot

Staring with her is younger sister Solange, who will be opening for Beyonce and performing songs she has been working on that also come from a personal place. The Tour will benefit the Newman Foundation, that works to promote the medical significance of research, and the Survivor Foundation which helps to change the lives of victims of social, economic and catastrophic disasters.

Tickets are still left for this show and it is one of the last on the "I am..." tour, buy now and don't miss this DIVA in action!

Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire in Minneapolis

Two iconic American bands, Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire are coming to the Minneapolis Target Center on Wednesday July 1st. The two bands have been touring together since 2004 and the joint performance has been talked about as one of the greatest musical spectaculars in recent touring history. A DVD of the a Los Angeles show from the tour went double platinum almost as soon as it was released... and critics are saying that show is only getting better.

The concert will start with a collaboration between the two groups and then each band will play a full set and the show will end with another full set of both groups on-stage together. Fans can look forward to an awesome night of music!

Album Cover shots of Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire

Both bands are passionate about fighting hunger and are asking for a donation of 3 food pantry items or $3 and in-return are giving fans a download card to access tracks unavailable anywhere else, go to http://www.ewfandchicago.com/ for more details.

Don't miss this once in a lifetime show from two of the most influential American rock-bands.

Jonas Brothers Target Center Minneapolis

If you didn’t buy Miley Cyrus Tickets for your tween you could always buy Jonas Brothers tickets. The Jonas Brothers tour will stop at the Target Center Minneapolis on Wednesday, July 8th.

The Target Center stage set-up will be elaborate with a rumored “massive 140-foot plus stage centered in the arena that aims to give a larger number of Jonas Brothers fans a closer, more interactive live concert than they’ve ever experienced before. The show will feature cutting edge technology used in a one-of-a-kind circular water screen, multi-color laser effects, motion automated video screens, a giant crane levitating over the audience plus other surprises that will bring the tour to the next level of concert entertainment.”

Wow. The Jonas Brothers really now how to put on a summer concert. All of the cool effects may be worth sitting through the screaming girls. If you haven’t already bought Target Center tickets, you better soon because you can bet that the local teen radio station will be pumping this concert up starting in July and your kid will be dying to go!

Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus Target Center Return

The nightmare continues. Miley Cyrus a.k.a. Hannah Montana is returning to the Target Center Minneapolis on October 29th at 7pm.

Every one remembers the drama associated with her October 2007 Target Center tour stop and the hysteria of Twin Cities mothers who were unable to secure tickets to the show. The blame was placed on ticket resellers and Miley is fighting back with a new “paperless ticket” show. So, if you are planning on buying Hannah Montana tickets for your kids or grandkids or for anyone other than yourself, you will have to show up at the Target Center with your photo ID and credit card in hand in order to get your party into the arena.

What a mess! The Hannah Target Center show isn’t until October – imagine all the lost or changed credit cards by then PLUS you will have to pay to park (figure that into your ticket cost) and all the time you will spend trying to get into the arena – the lines are going to be enormous! There are only two entrances into the Target Center. I have had to deal with long lines when people have the paper tickets in hand, imagine the lines for this ‘paperless’ show!

I am also upset by how restrictive this process is. What if I get sick and can’t go to the show – am I out the money and tickets? Also, I think I should be able to buy tickets and sell them on ebay or craigslist if I so choose. I wonder how ticketmaster is feeling about not being able to make money off their own scalping system, the ticket exchange? This will be an interesting ticket experiment at the Target Center and I am sure all eyes will be watching.

I personally don’t think Hannah Montana is as big as she was in 2007 so I don’t think the hype will be as big regardless of the ticketing system.

More to come on this concert. Stay Tuned.

American Idols Live at Target Center Minneapolis

If you were like most households in America last night, you watched the season finale of American Idol. The show leading up to the final elimination was filled with star power and included performances by Jason Mraz, Keith Urban, Black Eyed Peas, Cyndi Lauper, Kiss, and more. Even if you didn’t watch it, you certainly heard about it around the water cooler this morning or on the news. The finale was dubbed “the biggest upset in all of "American Idol's" eight seasons” after laid-back, folksy singer Kris Allen beat out the judges' favorite, Adam Lambert, for the "Idol" crown.

If you want a chance to see the top 10 American Idols live in concert, the Target Center is giving it to you. The American Idols Live Tour will be at the Target Center on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 at 7p.m. – the perfect back-to-school concert!

The American Idols Tour includes: Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver, and Scott MacIntyre.

Check out the Target Center Schedule for more details including ticket prices and available seat locations.

Demi Lovato Tour Stops at Target Center

Let the whining begin. On Saturday, August 8th Demi Lovato with special guest David Archuleta will be at the Target Center Minneapolis for her summer tour.

Demi Lovato is no Hannah Montana, but you can bet the Target Center will once again be filled with screaming tween girls that just “have to” see Demi.

If you don’t know who Demi Lovato is, then you don’t have a 10-16 year old daughter, niece, sister or whatever. Demi Lovato is another one of those Disney Channel creations. She starred in Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers as a 14 year old girl who wanted to be a famous singer. I am amazed that the Target Center is giving her a full house set-up. She is no Miley Cyrus and just last year she was a no name opening act for the Jonas Brothers. This may be a hot summer concert for tweens in the Twin Cities, but it just doesn’t have the hype of Hannah Montana caliber show.

Target Center Metallica Show

Head bangers of the Twin Cities were ecstatic to learn that Metallica was coming to the Target Center on October 13th. I heard a rumor that the floor tickets sold out in 5 minutes. Now, that is heavy metal dedication. I know local ticket broker Ticket King still has Metallica Tickets including floor tickets if fans are desperate – I would recommend buying tickets soon because the concert is a long way out and I bet it will sell out, even at Ticket King. Metallica’s Death Magnetic tour is going to be a big deal. I will update again in October as the Metallica concert gets closer. Rock on!

Target Center Walking With Dinosaurs

If you didn’t get a chance to see Walking With Dinosaurs last year at the Xcel Energy Center (read my Xcel Energy Center Walking With Dinos blog post about it) then you are in luck because it is coming to the Target Center! Walking With Dinosaurs will be in Minneapolis from May 14 - May 17 with various show times.

The Walking With Dinosaurs show features fifteen roaring “live” dinosaurs that walk the stage in life-like fashion. Walking with Dinosaurs is appropriate for young and old fans that want to watch the Dinosaurs journey from birth to extinction. My favorite was the Tyrannosaurus-Rex. It was huge and the skin looked real, you could see it breathe and a sparkle in the eyes. Buy some Walking With Dinosaurs tickets today and see the action for yourself. Here is a Target Center Tickets link.

Sugarland at Target Center

The Sugarland tour will stop in Minneapolis at the Target Center on April 17th 2009. Sugarland is once again touring in support of their third album, “Love On The Inside.”

Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush) is excited to return to the Twin Cities to entertain Minnesota country music fans with their hit songs like “Want To,” “Stay,” “Baby Girl,” “All I Want To Do,” “Already Gone” and more. Bloggers like Country Girl 102 are excited for Sugarlands appearance and are an example of the loyal country music following here in the Twin Cities.

It’s a Friday night and you can bet Minneapolis will be taken over by cowboy hats and western boots, but it’s only a Target Center half stage set-up because it wasn’t too long ago that Sugarland was the opening act for major country stars.

Target Center lacking major Concert Announcements

It seems to me that most of the major concert announcements lately are at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul (i.e. Eric Clapton Steve Winwood on sale this Saturday). Sure, the Target Center has Britney and Nickelback in April, but I am surprised there haven't been more shows announced in May and June...unless you count Andre Rieu or Disturbed as a major name and I am sure there are fans out there that do.

I heard Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler are coming in October, but what about a hot summer ticket? The Target Center is pretty quiet regarding major concert announcements lately. Any predictions on who they might entice to stop at Target Center this summer? I would love to hear the predictions!

Target Center Schedule

As far as music is concerned, the Target Center is lacking in the next few months. I suppose it is tough to convince too many rock stars that they should perform in Minnesota in the dead of winter.

Even with the Timberwolves, there is a lot of dead space on the Target Center Schedule the month of February and into March. The Target Center has some family type shows coming up like the Lipizzaner Stallions on February 21st and then a Disney on Ice run March 4th through the 8th, but that is about it.

I bet the Target Center is bummed that they didn’t get that Elton John Billy Joel show that is playing at the Xcel Energy Center on May 5th. That show has got to be a money maker. I bet it would be an interesting job to work in the entertainment promoting industry trying to lure shows to your venue over another – I am sure it is all about the money.

Target Center Review

Chadley took me up on my challenge for writing a Target Center Lil’ Wayne Review – here is what he had to say:

This show was probably the best concert i have ever been to. Lil Wayne and T-Pain are 2 of my favorite rappers and always will be besides the late Tupac Shakur may he R.I.P. The show started off with Gym Class Heros and ended with Lil Wayne, i had front row tickets to the concert and i left it with a huge adrenaline rush and barely able to hear, by far the funnest time i have ever had, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback, Chad the Mad Man! I appreciate you taking the time to comment on my blog - I hope you enjoy more shows at the Target Center soon!

Lil’ Wayne Minneapolis Tour Stop

I admit I am not really into the hip-hop style of music Lil’ Wayne performs, but I saw his name on a list of top things to do in 2009 put out by the Pioneer Press. Really the list item was to attend a concert at the Xcel and Target Center and his January 19th show date made the list. Lil’ Wayne will be joined by Keyshia Cole and T-Pain and special guests Gym Class Heroes.

I have to admit I probably won’t be going to the Lil’ Wayne show. However, I will make the same pledge on this Target Center blog site as I did on my Xcel Energy Center blog, if you write a Lil’ Wayne show review in the comments section of my blog, I will post it on the front page and give you full credit. I want to make this blog about all types of shows and music at the Target Center not just the ones I attend.

Monday, January 19th is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I hope Lil’ Wayne and everyone takes a moment to remember that and all that Dr. King did for our country. As a recognized federal holiday, the parking meters won’t be enforced either so get down town early enough to snag one and you won’t have to worry about paying for Target Center parking.
