Minnesota Timberwolves Free Agency Moves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to continue their aggressive approach during free agency. This means the Timberwolves roster will likely feature many new players this 2012-13 NBA season.

Stay tuned for Minnesota Timberwolves Roster updates. On the outs so far are Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph.

Kevin Love Frustrated About Lack of Playoff Appearances

Kevin Love has spoken out about some impatience in the Timberwolves' lack of accomplishments, particularly playoff appearances.

Love was recently selected for his first Team USA Olympic appearance and expressed frustration in basically not having anything to contribute when the conversation among athletes shifts to playoff appearances.

The forward is the only member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team who doesn't have an NBA playoff appearance on his resume.

After signing a four-year, $62 million extension with the Timberwolves in January, it might seem as though Love's long-term future might not be in Minnesota.

Timberwolves Pursue Nicolas Batum

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Rick Adelman entered the off season and free agency with aggressive intentions.

The organization looked to dominate the free agency market and trades to bring in skilled veterans who could encourage a Minnesota evolution.

The Timberwolves hosted Boston Celtics free agent Greg Stiemsma and were working hard to bring in Portland restricted free agent Nicolas Batum for a visit, just two days after visiting Brandon Roy in Seattle.

After failing to extend offers to Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph, the Wolves freed up more than $12 million to use in free agency.

Minnesota Timberwolves Roster: Anthony Tolliver

Meet Anthony Tolliver, a forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Anthony Tolliver was born on June 1, 1985 in Springfield, Missouri. Anthony Tolliver committed to Creighton in the fall of 2002. He was one of four players from his High School team to play Division I basketball.

At Creighton, Anthony Tolliver played in a reserve role during his freshman season behind veterans Brody Deren, Mike Grimes and Joe Dabbert, but saw action in 27 games.

After going undrafted out of Creighton in 2007, he spent the preseason with the Cleveland Cavaliers, making the opening-day roster, but never playing. He spent much of the 2007–08 season with the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League, averaging 11.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, before going abroad to join collegiate teammate Nate Funk with Eisbären Bremerhaven of the German Basketball Bundesliga.

Following a stint in Germany which saw him average 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, he was signed by the San Antonio Spurs in July 2008.

After another trip to Europe and the D-League, Anthony Toliver ended up on the Golden State Warriors. During the 2009-2010 season with the Golden State Warriors, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

In the 2010 off-season, Tolliver joined the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two year deal worth $4.5 million.

Join Anthony Tolliver on the Target Center court this season.

Minnesota Timberwolves Roster: Anthony Randolph

Meet Anthony Randolph, a forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Anthony Erwin Randolph, Jr. was born to Anthony and Crystal Randolph in West Germany, where both of his parents served in the military. Randolph spent the first year of his life in Germany before his family moved to Pasadena, California, where he spent the majority of his childhood. Randolph attended schools in Pasadena as well as Little Rock, Arkansas before heading to Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. Anthony Randolph averaged 25.8 points and 12.6 rebounds as a senior.

Anthony Randolph chose to attend LSU after his high school career. Anthony Randolph earned Honorable Mention All-SEC and First Team All-Freshman Team honors. Randolph was the only LSU Tiger to start all thirty-one games in his freshman season, and averaged 15.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.13 steals, and 2.26 blocks per contest.

Anthony Randolph was drafted 14th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. He was traded in the 2010 offseason for New York Knick David Lee. February 22, 2011, Randolph was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a three-way blockbuster deal which also involved Denver Nuggets that brought Carmelo Anthony to New York.

Join Anthony Randolph at the Target Center this season.

Eric Church Target Center Tickets

I know I have mentioned various artists in the past and I can see where some of those posts may have led you to believe that they are my favorite country artist. I am here to clear that confusion.

Undoubtedly, Eric Church is my favorite country artist. I love every single one of his songs, plus he is completely attractive. He has that sexy, savvy air about him that I just can't resist. Plus the ruggedly good looks that stems from his dark hair.

On a less creepy note, here are my top ten favorite Eric Church songs:

10. Love Your Love the Most
9. Over When its Over
8. Guys Like Me
7. Homeboy
6. Smoke a Little Smoke
5. Sinners Like Me
4. Hell on the Heart
3. Drink in My Hand
2. Carolina
1. Springsteen

Ugh... that was hard and I still feel slightly unsettled about the results. I really love all of his songs. I should have just said my favorite song is Springsteen, because after that it gets really blurry.

Anyway, don't forget Eric Church will be at the Target Center on May 17th! Treat yourself to something after finals or just cheers to spring!

Kevin Love Hopeful for Golden State Game

It is uncertain if Kevin Love will miss a sixth straight game with a concussion. Love is averaging a career-high 26.0 points with 13.3 rebounds. He went through a light practice on Saturday, and passed all the post-concussion tests.

For the first time in three years, the Timberwolves are looking to win consecutive games in April. The Wolves could surely use Love to accomplish the feat.

Minnesota is also looking to avoid a 16th straight April home defeat against the Golden State Warriors, who hope to avoid a ninth consecutive loss overall.

Wolves Playoffs 2012-13

A recent poll on ESPN asked, if KLove and Rubio stay healthy, whether or not the Wolves will make the playoffs next year. An overwhelming portion of the nation said 'yes'.

Why not preview a future playoff contending team? The Wolves play the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow at the Target Center!

Kevin Love, Wolves Lose to Trail Blazers

It is a rare sight to see a game where Kevin Love is outplayed by his opponent. LaMarcus Aldridge accomplished the task in the low post with a 26-point, eight-rebound effort. The Trail Blazers won 119-106.

Love finished with 26 points and nine rebounds, but Minnesota lost for the third time in four games.

Despite the loss, the Wolves were still exciting to watch.

Kevin Love Rocks the Nuggets

Kevin Love followed up his 51-point game with 30 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to a victory over the Denver Nuggets.

The Wolves racked up 68 points in the first half and never looked back on Sunday in 117-100 win over the Nuggets at the Target Center. With a sellout crowd of 20,032 the Minnesota Timberwolves handled the Western Conference's eighth-seeded team from start to finish and took one step closer to grabbing a playoff spot.

Adelman recognized that the Timberwolves needed this win to stay alive in the playoff picture. Not only that, but the Wolves will need to put forth similar efforts the rest of the year.

Target Center Tied to Vikings Stadium

Tying the Target Center upgrades to the Metrodome site is potentially problematic, according to Senator Julie Rosen. It appears to be hard to round up votes to approve the Metrodome site for the new Vikings stadium because lawmakers don't like connecting the deal with $32 million for Target Center improvements.

The Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak insists that any Metrodome deal has to include funding for the Target Center upgrades.

However, state lawmakers realize that might not necessarily go well over at the Capitol. Obviously some creativity is needed...

It is possible that, if the Target Center improvements remain tied to the Metrodome deal, it won't get done, because there simply aren't enough votes to approve it.

I bet if the Wolves make the playoffs, people may be more likely to vote for some nice Target Center upgrades. Let's be honest, the place could use some windows.

Vikings Stadium Plan Back at Metrodome Location

The leading proposal for the Vikings stadium appears to be back at the current Metrodome location with one of the original renderings taking back the focus.

All I have to say about this rendering is that the wood paneling is atrocious and that the building looks small and outdated... which is generally not what you want when it hasn't even been built yet!

Keep looking, Minnesota.

Upcoming Target Center Events

In my last post, I mentioned that Eric Church will be coming to the Target Center on May 17th. This post is here to tell you that you don't have to wait until the middle of May to catch a great event at the Target Center. Here are some of the upcoming events that I suggest:

2/22 - Wolves v Utah Jazz
2/29-3/4 - Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream
3/9 - Wolves v LA Lakers
3/11 - Lady Antebellum
3/27-28 - Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson the Immortal

Eric Church at the Target Center

Guess who just bought tickets to see Eric Church on May 17 at the Target Center?!

I am completely excited! Eric Church is my favorite artist of all time, not to mention a sexy beast. If you are interested in EC tickets, I am pretty sure Ticket Master is sold out, but that there are tickets available elsewhere.

Undoubtedly Eric Church is my favorite artist. I love every single one of his songs, plus I have already mentioned the handsome thing. He has that sexy, savvy air about him that I can't resist. I would take him with or without his sunglasses - I'm not too picky considering he has those ruggedly good looks that include his dark hair.

On a less creepy note, here are my top ten favorite Erich Church songs:

10. Love Your Love the Most
9. Homeboy
8. Guys Like Me
7. Jack Daniels
6. Smoke a Little Smoke
5. Hell on the Heart
4. Sinners Like Me
3. Drink in My Hand
2. Carolina
1. Springsteen

Ugh... it was a task to cut that list down to ten and to place the songs in an order somewhat relative to my liking of them. I should have just said my number one and number two songs are Springsteen and Carolina, in that order, because after that the lines are really blurred.

Anyway, I am ecstatic about my Eric Church tickets!

Target Center: Publicly Subsidized, Privately Owned

Star Tribune released an article on February 2nd on the Target Center, revealing the building in a negative light. "They call it an albatross. A mistake. Worst decision ever." Yikes.

The bailout of the Target Center in 1995 is what the article is referencing. New figures released in late January predict that the city of Minneapolis will have to spend more than $32 million over the next decade to keep Target Center up to date.

According to the Star Tribune article, Minneapolis uses tax-increment financing to support much of its obligation to the Target Center. The city also set aside much of the tax revenue from increased property taxes of recent years. However, most of the capital costs and all of the operation subsidies are paid by taxpayers throughout Minneapolis.

To me, the Target Center is an eye sore. It would be great to have a newly renovated building with... windows. However, we really have to ask ourselves if we would be fine with removing all public financial support from the building. I doubt the answer is yes, especially with how many concerts are brought to the Target Center - more than what the Xcel Energy Center could accommodate. Plus, the Timberwolves are gaining ground and are back in the NBA radar.

If the Target Center were to lose its public funding, you might as well kiss it and a large portion of Block E 'good bye'. The Target Center is more important than we give it credit.

Key Wolves Rockets Matchups

With the Houston Rockets coming to the Target Center, look for these key matchups on the court:

Point guard: Kyle Lowry vs Ricky Rubio
Advantage? Rockets

Shooting guard: Courtney Lee vs Luke Ridnour
Advantage? Rockets

Forward: Chandler Parsons vs Wesley Johnson
Advantage? Wolves

Forward: Luis Scola vs Kevin Love
Advantage? Wolves

Center: Samuel Dalembert vs Nikola Pekovic
Advantage? Rockets

Who will come out on top? It appears, according to me rough estimates, the Rockets are holding the advantage over the Wolves' starting five. However, I think with Adelman's experience with Houston, the Wolves will take the win. Wolves 99-94.
