Minnesota Timberwolves May Surprise Some People This Season

Wesley JohnsonMany newspapers, websites, writers, and virtually any other form of media, has low expectations for the Minnesota Timberwolves heading into the 2010-2011 season. I understand some of that sentiment - however, I believe this is the best roster they have had since losing Kevin Garnett. Okay, maybe that is not saying a heck of a whole lot, but I think there is reason for hope. The players listed below all have some potential to turn some heads in my opinion:

- Kevin Love: A double-double machine. Will have his first shot at starting at PF since Al Jefferson was traded.
- Michael Beasley: A former #2 overall pick and averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds last season for Miami. He has a lot to play for and I think he will play with something to prove.
- Wesley Johnson: An unknown. Considered a "safe" pick but the #4 overall player will have high expectations. I think he could surprise fans with his athleticism.
- Wayne Ellington: A 3-point shooter who will look to improve in his 2nd season.
- Jonny Flynn: Averaged 14 points and 4 assists last season as a rookie. Undersized but he is an explosive athlete.
- Martell Webster: Another unknown. Could be a big surprise or a bust. We will see what type of player he is. I am looking forward to watching this guy.
- Nikola Pekovic: A European who was highly coveted. Tough and edgy player. Again, an unknown.
- Darko Milic: I get it. He's been a bust where he was drafted. However, he gives the Wolves a legit center that can play defense.
- Lazar Hayward: A rookie who has said all the right things. We'll see what we have with him.
- Corey Brewer: A candidate for Most Improved Player last season. Let's see if he can keep it going.
- Anthony Tolliver: Hey, the guy made a classic YouTube video about "The Decision"
