Target Center Schedule

As far as music is concerned, the Target Center is lacking in the next few months. I suppose it is tough to convince too many rock stars that they should perform in Minnesota in the dead of winter.

Even with the Timberwolves, there is a lot of dead space on the Target Center Schedule the month of February and into March. The Target Center has some family type shows coming up like the Lipizzaner Stallions on February 21st and then a Disney on Ice run March 4th through the 8th, but that is about it.

I bet the Target Center is bummed that they didn’t get that Elton John Billy Joel show that is playing at the Xcel Energy Center on May 5th. That show has got to be a money maker. I bet it would be an interesting job to work in the entertainment promoting industry trying to lure shows to your venue over another – I am sure it is all about the money.

Target Center Review

Chadley took me up on my challenge for writing a Target Center Lil’ Wayne Review – here is what he had to say:

This show was probably the best concert i have ever been to. Lil Wayne and T-Pain are 2 of my favorite rappers and always will be besides the late Tupac Shakur may he R.I.P. The show started off with Gym Class Heros and ended with Lil Wayne, i had front row tickets to the concert and i left it with a huge adrenaline rush and barely able to hear, by far the funnest time i have ever had, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback, Chad the Mad Man! I appreciate you taking the time to comment on my blog - I hope you enjoy more shows at the Target Center soon!

Lil’ Wayne Minneapolis Tour Stop

I admit I am not really into the hip-hop style of music Lil’ Wayne performs, but I saw his name on a list of top things to do in 2009 put out by the Pioneer Press. Really the list item was to attend a concert at the Xcel and Target Center and his January 19th show date made the list. Lil’ Wayne will be joined by Keyshia Cole and T-Pain and special guests Gym Class Heroes.

I have to admit I probably won’t be going to the Lil’ Wayne show. However, I will make the same pledge on this Target Center blog site as I did on my Xcel Energy Center blog, if you write a Lil’ Wayne show review in the comments section of my blog, I will post it on the front page and give you full credit. I want to make this blog about all types of shows and music at the Target Center not just the ones I attend.

Monday, January 19th is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I hope Lil’ Wayne and everyone takes a moment to remember that and all that Dr. King did for our country. As a recognized federal holiday, the parking meters won’t be enforced either so get down town early enough to snag one and you won’t have to worry about paying for Target Center parking.

Nickelback Target Center stop is Hot

Nickelback tickets went on sale to the general public on Saturday and from what I hear the show is hot. Nickelback will stop at the Target Center Minnesota on Tuesday, April 7th, 2009. The band was just in the Twin Cities last year (or was it the year before? at the Xcel Energy Center), but clearly fans are still willing to spend the money to see them again. In fact, it looks almost sold out to me. I tried to get tickets online from ticketmaster and the lower level reserved comes up as sold out and the upper level gives me obstructed view. Even the general admission floor seats come up as sold out – wow! The Target Center will be rockin' with this show.

If you want to go to Nickelback you will have to buy from Ticket Brokers. I see TicketsNow (part of ticketmaster) has tickets, but there are better prices from our local ticket broker Ticket King. This Nickelback tour is hot; don’t plan on getting in for too cheap, but don't miss it either!

Celine Dion Minneapolis Show Date

Celine Dion ticket holders will be happy to know she has finally committed to a new date for her Target Center show. Originally scheduled for October 30th, Celine Dion cancelled the Minneapolis tour stop due to an infection. She then rescheduled to February 5th 2009, but had a scheduling conflict so she rescheduled the rescheduled Target Center show to DECEMBER 18th.

Wow, what a mess. The main point – if you own a ticket for a Minneapolis Celine Dion show, you need to show up at the Target Center on Thursday December 18th. I hope her fans think all this trouble is worth it. There are still Celine Dion tickets for sale if you are free next Thursday night. I am predicting this will be her last ever Minnesota tour stop so if you have any desire to see her belt out tunes live, you better act now.

Britney Spears Target Center Date

Britney Spears comeback tour will be stopping at the Target Center Minneapolis Friday, April 3rd, 2009. This is big news for the Target Center and Minneapolis. Britney will be touring promoting her new CD, “Circus.” Britney Spears Tickets won’t be cheap, but you can bet this concert will generate plenty of buzz – perhaps Hannah Montana levels of hysteria. Britney is a tabloid favorite and Yahoo has reported she is the most searched person on the Internet.

You can already buy Britney Spears tickets online at local brokers like Ticket King. I will keep an eye on this show for you because I am wondering if Britney Spears fans still have hurt feelings over her 2004 tour debacle that included a canceled Target Center show. Leave comments and let me know what you think about Britney Spears coming to the Target Center Minneapolis.

Oasis at Target Center

The band Oasis will be coming to the Target Center Minneapolis on Wednesday, December 10th to promote their new album “Dig Out Your Soul.” This will be the bands first US tour in 3 years and is following a record setting tour in the UK that sold over 180,000 Oasis tickets within an hour of going on sale – that’s crazy!

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals will be opening for Oasis at the Target Center. Minneapolis music fans will remember when Ryan Adams played at the Cedar Cultural Center awhile back and the show sold out immediately. Ryan Adams has his own fan base here in Minnesota and you can bet Ryan Adams fans will be scooping up tickets to see him perform in the big arena. Section 113 or 129 will provide the best stage views unless you can get Target Center tickets in the first 10 rows on the floor.

I heard that the Xcel had bid on this gig and lost it to the Target Center. I am sure it is going to be a great show and the Xcel is going to wish they had placed a sweeter deal on the table. The Target Center has been a hot spot of Twin Cities entertainment this year!
