Styx, Foreigner and Kansas unite star studded Summer Tour

United in Rock Summer Tour poster
Styx, Foreigner, Kansas... no I'm not just listing iconic American bands. The 3 superstar groups are joining forces for a star-studded Summer Tour. Styx and Foreigner with special guest Kansas will be appearing at the Minneapolis Target Center on Thursday July 1st as a part of the United in Rock Tour.

The United in Rock Tour featuring Styx Foreigner and special guest Kansas kicks off in May and will cross the country all summer long. The three bands have all spent lots of time on the tops of the the charts and radio play-lists and all equally seem excited about joining up for the show.

“I am very excited to be performing this summer with both Foreigner and Kansas on our United In Rock Tour. These three bands represent the more rocking side of the classic rock genre. With the countless great rock songs each band will be performing this is going to be a guitars-a-blazin’ good time had by all. STYX is a band that one of our best known songs is about the blue collar man in the unemployment line and we totally identify with the average hard working people that are facing difficult economic times. We want to say thank you with affordable tickets for you and your family,” said James “JY” Young of Styx.

Target Center Concert Schedule slow this winter...

The Recession has hit everyone hard this holiday center, including the Target Center. The Target Center Concert Schedule this season is VERY slow compared to other years, especially the past few. Typically the holiday season and early new year season brings in great concerts to the the Twin Cities, this year the music scene in Minneapolis is looking very thin.

The Target Center does have some of the best of the few shows coming to the Twin Cities this winter. Target Center Tickets make great holiday gifts, but don't miss your chance to get them. With fewer concerts to chose from, there will be a much higher demand for the shows that are coming. Get Great Concert Tickets online now before the Target Center Concerts are all sold out!

Taylor Swift and the hottest country tour of the year comes to the Target Center

Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler on stage togetherTaylor Swift, one of the hottest acts in country music right now and a recent MTV VMA winner will be at the Target Center on Sunday October 11th at 7:30 with special guest Kellie Pickler.

The show has been sold out at the Target Center for quite some time, but independent ticket companies, like Ticket King in Minneapolis still have some great Taylor Swift Tickets left. These sites get some of the best seats out there, so if you were crying into your pillow that you were going to miss Taylor perform hits like "You Belong With Me" "Love Story" and "White Horse" dry those eyes and get online... the closer this event gets the less likely the Taylor Swift Concert Tickets will be available.

Performing with Taylor is her good friend, Kellie Pickler who dropped great music this fall like the song "Best Days of your Life" and "Red High Heels"... the two country music sweethearts are sure to put on a great concert!

Oasis at Target Center

The band Oasis will be coming to the Target Center Minneapolis on Wednesday, December 10th to promote their new album “Dig Out Your Soul.” This will be the bands first US tour in 3 years and is following a record setting tour in the UK that sold over 180,000 Oasis tickets within an hour of going on sale – that’s crazy!

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals will be opening for Oasis at the Target Center. Minneapolis music fans will remember when Ryan Adams played at the Cedar Cultural Center awhile back and the show sold out immediately. Ryan Adams has his own fan base here in Minnesota and you can bet Ryan Adams fans will be scooping up tickets to see him perform in the big arena. Section 113 or 129 will provide the best stage views unless you can get Target Center tickets in the first 10 rows on the floor.

I heard that the Xcel had bid on this gig and lost it to the Target Center. I am sure it is going to be a great show and the Xcel is going to wish they had placed a sweeter deal on the table. The Target Center has been a hot spot of Twin Cities entertainment this year!

Rage Against the Machine killed the Target Center

Rage Against the Machine played their highly anticipated and sold out show last night at the Target Center. Police and riot control cops were on hand and rumors began to swirl of the intent of the fans. However, rioting was simply not the case. I was one of the 13,000 attendees last night and I laughed as I walked past the cops with their face shields and baseball bats while all the concert goers left peacefully and collectively from the concert. As a matter of fact, when I went to Tom Petty in July at the Target Center, it took me about an hour of crowd pushing to get out of the arena. Last night for Rage it took me about 5 minutes from the time left my seat to my first step outside.

The concert was not like one I had seen before, the males in the audience were high fiving and taking group shots of one another like girls at a bar on a Saturday night. Rage Against the Machine’s front man, Zach de la Rocha, did not short the crowd on his performance, I had no idea he was such a front man. Despite the fact they took an 8 year hiatus, they still have it as a live band. And I have been to a lot of concerts in my life, but I have never seen a crowd like I have on the floor last night. Target Center tickets for the general admission floor were the hardest tickets to come by this summer. People were jumping from their seats in the 100 level over the barricades just to be on the floor. From the start of the stage to the back of the floor by section 104 it was jam packed with people. It was truly unbelievable.

While there were extra cops and riot control on hand to deal the ‘unruly fans’ after the concert, Zach de la Rocha made a comment to the audience before he closed the show to ‘by no means be passive, but please leave peacefully’ – I thought that was cool of him to say and well needed considering how young and naïve some of the audience was. All in all I was glad I went for the experience and to be one of the people in 20 years to say “I’ve seen Rage Against the Machine.”

Tom Petty comes to Target Center July 23rd

So, I’m pretty stoked that Tom Petty is coming to town (Heartbreakers will be in tow). I mean, Tom Petty is always cool, but add the fact that they’ve been together for the last 30 years and it makes it that much more of an event that I really want to be at. Who knows when they’ll tour again, you know? I’ve heard he does a great job at singing all those songs that everyone wants to hear. Songs like "Mary Jane’s Last Dance," "American Girl," "Free Fallin’," the list goes on and on. He does encores and he’s a rock star, without that ‘I’m-a-rock-star’ attitude; the kind of guy who would have a beer with you.

For such a great guy, he’s pulling a power move that I don’t care for. Apparently, the first twenty rows of the Target Center floor seats are considered ‘Fan Club’ seats and are only available to those people who are in his fan club. So, not only do you have to pay $40 per year to even be in the club, but the tickets you’ve purchased are will-call only, meaning you pay for them in advance and the night of the show, you are verified by your ID and then escorted to your seat, making it literally impossible for anyone else to enjoy that seat.

Personally, I would pay good money to be no more than 20 rows away from the legend, himself. But these entertainment promoters have us in a headlock; either pay $40 and maybe get a chance at your dream Tom Petty ticket, or sit further away. I think it’s another marketing scheme. I mean, I already buy the man’s albums and I would definitely plan on buying some merchandise at the concert (I love my band t-shirts). I think it’s just a scheme to get more money. I would rather pay that money to know that I’m getting the seats I really want.

Tom Petty post thanks to my friend Mary!

Alicia Keys with Jordin Sparks and Ne-Yo Tonight!

Alicia Keys will be at the Target Center tonight along with special guests Ne-Yo and Jordin Sparks. Local newspapers had reported that Sparks would not be appearing due to vocal problems, but just this morning the promoters said that "American Idol" Jordin Sparks will return to the road as opening act for Alicia Keys and that her first show is at the Target Center Minneapolis.

There are still Alicia Keys tickets available from ticketmaster, but local ticket brokers like Ticket King have Alicia Keys Jordin Sparks tickets as well and the total cost is actually less than what you would pay from tm. It’s going to be a great show for music lovers, don’t miss it.

Martina McBride fan base will flood the Target Center

Martina McBride tickets are going fast as her January 26 show at the Target Center is approaching. McBride started out in the early 90s as a traditional country singer, but her star has risen as she approached more poppy sounds. Now she is bringing a probably grandiose show to the Target Center. If you’re a Martina McBride fan, this show is essential because it’s a chance to watch McBride delve into her catalogue of 30 charting singles and seven studio albums.

Any show at the Target Center has elaborate staging and awesome lighting. Oftentimes, the stage production of the artists featured is worth the price of admission in itself. Don’t mess with the fickle Target Center box office; just get your tickets to Martina McBride here. Martina McBride has sold 16 million records worldwide. People love her, so don’t miss out on tickets.

R. Kelly Cancels Show

Citing "inclement weather," R and B artist R. Kelly has canceled his show tomorrow night at the Target Center. Kelly, who is on a 45-city tour to support his Double Up album said the show will not be rescheduled.

“Inclement weather” cracks this native Minnesotan up, surely Kelly isn’t talking about 20 degrees and partly cloudy skies as inclement weather. This music fan wonders if soft ticket sales aren’t the real reason behind the cancellation. Kelly has a unique elaborate stage set-up that probably costs more to run than the number of tickets sold for his Target Center show. Or perhaps Kelly’s run in with the law and his mandatory court appearance is in conflict with his Target Center stop, either way there will be at least a few disappointed R&B music fans in the Twin Cities.

The Xcel Energy Center hosted TSO last year, but this year the Target Center booked the hit show just in time for the holidays. There are still great seats left from local ticket brokers and twin cities music fans won’t want to miss this hit sound and light show. Buy your Trans Siberian Tickets today! Happy Holidays everyone!
