Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus Target Center Return

The nightmare continues. Miley Cyrus a.k.a. Hannah Montana is returning to the Target Center Minneapolis on October 29th at 7pm.

Every one remembers the drama associated with her October 2007 Target Center tour stop and the hysteria of Twin Cities mothers who were unable to secure tickets to the show. The blame was placed on ticket resellers and Miley is fighting back with a new “paperless ticket” show. So, if you are planning on buying Hannah Montana tickets for your kids or grandkids or for anyone other than yourself, you will have to show up at the Target Center with your photo ID and credit card in hand in order to get your party into the arena.

What a mess! The Hannah Target Center show isn’t until October – imagine all the lost or changed credit cards by then PLUS you will have to pay to park (figure that into your ticket cost) and all the time you will spend trying to get into the arena – the lines are going to be enormous! There are only two entrances into the Target Center. I have had to deal with long lines when people have the paper tickets in hand, imagine the lines for this ‘paperless’ show!

I am also upset by how restrictive this process is. What if I get sick and can’t go to the show – am I out the money and tickets? Also, I think I should be able to buy tickets and sell them on ebay or craigslist if I so choose. I wonder how ticketmaster is feeling about not being able to make money off their own scalping system, the ticket exchange? This will be an interesting ticket experiment at the Target Center and I am sure all eyes will be watching.

I personally don’t think Hannah Montana is as big as she was in 2007 so I don’t think the hype will be as big regardless of the ticketing system.

More to come on this concert. Stay Tuned.

Demi Lovato Tour Stops at Target Center

Let the whining begin. On Saturday, August 8th Demi Lovato with special guest David Archuleta will be at the Target Center Minneapolis for her summer tour.

Demi Lovato is no Hannah Montana, but you can bet the Target Center will once again be filled with screaming tween girls that just “have to” see Demi.

If you don’t know who Demi Lovato is, then you don’t have a 10-16 year old daughter, niece, sister or whatever. Demi Lovato is another one of those Disney Channel creations. She starred in Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers as a 14 year old girl who wanted to be a famous singer. I am amazed that the Target Center is giving her a full house set-up. She is no Miley Cyrus and just last year she was a no name opening act for the Jonas Brothers. This may be a hot summer concert for tweens in the Twin Cities, but it just doesn’t have the hype of Hannah Montana caliber show.

Hannah Montana this Sunday at Target Center

One of my friends offered to write a blog entry for me regarding the upcoming Hannah Montana Concert – here is what she had to say (and in many places she is just being too nice, you should hear her TALK about this – she is very opinionated on the priorities of parents and our local media). Thanks for the article K!

HANNAH MONTANA
The Target Center will finally host Hannah Montana this Sunday October 21st. The concert has received plenty of media attention since it went on sale the first week of September. This is the first Target Center show that I can remember that has received so much hype for such an extended period of time. Yes, Hannah Montana is a Disney superstar, but seriously should she receive more media than other important world issues? I am sure the Target Center , TicketMaster and Hannah are laughing all the way to the bank.

The whole Hannah Montana controversy started because there were upset tweens and parents that, despite their best efforts, didn’t get tickets to the show. The Hannah ticket “crisis” created quite a stir in the community. Local ticket brokers have tickets on the Internet for above face value and so does TicketMaster through their auctions and ticket exchange, but local Hannah Montana fiends didn’t want to pay their prices so they appealed to the media and legislature for support and they got it. Every local news station and newspaper has run at least 3 Hannah Montana stories – do the math (4 TV stations, 2 Papers – 18 stories) That’s almost a story a day on a 14 year old singer that is stopping by the Target Center to sing for an hour. I am sure the Target Center loves all the attention and is doing it’s best to keep the story in the spotlight. In fact, the Target Center even released extra tickets last weekend to fans who could come downtown on Saturday to their box office.

It just amazes me that people care so much about the cost of a concert – if you don’t like the prices, don’t go. I won’t pay $85 for a Hollister sweatshirt because I think that is too expensive (and it will last longer than a 4 hour concert), but I am not calling the media and my local representative to look into why Hollister charges so much for a cotton garment. Parents need to get a grip on their priorities and use this show to teach their kids about supply and demand and disappointment. Are we raising a generation of children that get whatever they want? Or is that their parents get whatever they want? This show makes me worry about peoples’ expectations of what they are “entitled” to in this world. I think parents should be more concerned about the increase in grocery prices to feed their children than the increase in ticket prices to entertain them – where have our priorities gone?

Hannah Montana Media Madness

I wrote about Hannah Montana a few weeks ago when her Target Center concert just hit the news, but in the last few weeks every local news station has covered a Hannah Montana story ranging from angry fan club members who didn’t get tickets to crying six year olds that stood outside of the Target Center the day they went on sale only to leave empty handed.

Everyone is wondering where all of the tickets went and this Target Center blogger is no exception. I know the secondary ticket market scooped up plenty of Hannah tickets. Checking sites like Ticket King Minnesota I see hundreds of seats for the 10/21 show, but I don’t see hundreds of really good seats. Where are all of the first 10 rows? If the fan club didn’t get them and the ticket brokers didn’t get them – who has them? Ticketmaster! Ticketmaster has Hannah Montana tickets locked up in the Premium Seats Auction section of their web site. Ticketmaster is becoming just like ticket brokers across the country and charging an arm and a leg for good Hannah Montana seats.

I know many little girls are hoping to win Hannah Montana tickets, but will there be oodles and oodles of radio contests days before her big Target Center performance to score floor seats? I guess we will have to wait and see. If you want to be guaranteed a seat, be ready to pay big bucks. Hannah Montana fever is all over the Twin Cities!

Hannah Montana : Miley Cyrus

Disney channel sensation Hannah Montana will be taking the Target Center by storm on Sunday October 21st. Played by Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana is a popular show on the Disney channel. Hannah lives out every girl’s fantasy of leading a double life as both a pop star and a normal teenage girl. In the Best of Both Worlds tour, actress and singer Miley Cyrus will play half of her show singing Hannah Montana’s songs and the other half singing her own songs. Miley Cyrus is no stranger to the music stage and life of a touring artist as she is country singer Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter. The latest Hannah Montana CD includes one CD of Hannah and a second CD of Miley singing her own songs so the show at the Target Center is sure to be jam packed with thousands of screaming young girls. I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the girls aren’t wearing their blonde Hannah Montana wigs. Parents take note, Hannah Montana is way more popular than the Cheetah Girls and is sure to sell out and be an expensive ticket so buy your tickets early for a guaranteed seat!
